Playing in Math Class

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

In this workshop, participants will explore 3 examples of play I have used in my math classes. By examining one day-long task and two extended projects, participants will understand the ways in which students engaged in mathematical thinking. Using their own lessons, participants will create playful mathematical tasks for their own classrooms.

During this workshop, participants will:
- examine 3 examples of playing in math class and discover the mathematical thinking behind each.
- deconstruct their own learning goals in order to find ways to insert play into their own classes.
