Mental Health is an important aspect of a learner’s academic and social functioning. Learner’s may experience many phases during their lives that could impede their academic achievement. Social and emotional learning is a process of acquiring social and emotional values, attitudes, competencies, knowledge, and skills that are essential for learning, being effective, well-being, and success in life (UNICEF, 2015a). As childhood and adolescent mental health disorders are common, it is essential that learners are equipped with skills that enhance their psychological insight. This session will help teachers learn ways to embed social and emotional learning in their education.

By the end of this workshop participants will be able to:
- Teachers will be able to use social and emotional learning in their academic curriculum
- Teachers will learn strategies to increase mental health awareness at school
