Online abuse prevention and trauma informed response

One study indicates that sixty percent of abuse is either online or has an online element. Educators and parents need to work together to keep children safe online. Learn research informed approaches to prevention and best practices in response. Strategies for trauma informed response to disclosure will be included in this session.

By the end of this workshop participants will be able to:
- Identify barriers to disclosure in online abuse
- Understand aggravating elements of online abuse
- Identify signs and indicators of abuse
- Understand effective prevention approaches with young people
- Learn strategies to work with parents on prevention
- Identify tools and resources to support school’s duty of care, including activation of student voice
